What Is Granite & Stone Polish?

Stone Care International Granite & Stone Polish is a pH-neutral cleaner and polish for natural stone. It clears grease and residue the way any stone cleaner would, and hands back a polished surface brighter than it found one.

That second job is what sets it apart from a plain cleaner. Polished granite usually loses its shine not because anything has happened to the stone, but because soap film, hard water residue and cooking grease have settled on top of the polish.

This bottle strips that layer away and lets the reflection underneath come through again. Nothing about it is abrasive and it does not repolish anything, so what you get back is the finish the slab always had.

Use it on granite, marble and travertine. For engineered quartz, pick up Quartz Clean & Shine instead, which is the same brand built for a resin surface. Both bottles are on the shelf at our Cebu yard, so name the material when you ask.

Why Has My Granite Lost Its Shine?

Four causes behind a dull Cebu counter, and the stone is only to blame for one of them.

Soap film, by a wide margin the most common

Washing-up liquid used on a stone counter leaves behind a residue that thickens invisibly over months. The stone below it is untouched; what you are looking at is a layer of dried soap, and clearing that is what a polish does.

Hard water deposits

A cloudy bloom gathers around a sink and a tap where the water carries minerals. Plenty of households live with it, and it is easily taken for damage to the polish.

Cooking grease

Grease travels through the air and settles across a whole kitchen rather than the counter alone. Where dullness covers one broad area instead of appearing in patches, this is generally why.

Genuine wear, which this will not fix

Abrasive powders, scouring pads and acid etching all do physical damage. Nothing in a bottle reverses it, and Stone Depot does not offer repolishing or restoration services in Cebu, so avoiding the damage is the only real answer.

How Do You Use Granite & Stone Polish?

Three steps, and the first is the one people skip.

Clear the Build-Up First

Where a counter carries months of soap film, the opening pass is doing cleaning work rather than polishing work. Plan on going over a neglected surface twice before the shine starts to show.

Work in Sections

Spray an area you can manage and wipe it before it dries. Along a long run, or under a strong downlight, product left to dry on the surface streaks, and streaks show plainly on dark granite.

Buff With a Dry Cloth

Follow up with a clean dry microfiber to raise the reflection evenly. That final pass is the difference between a counter that is clean and a counter that looks new.

Does Polishing Replace Sealing?

No, and this is the misunderstanding that costs money.

No. A polish acts on the surface and makes the stone look its best. A sealer acts inside the pores and keeps oil and wine from soaking in. A counter can look immaculate and have no protection at all.

The two are not alternatives, and the polish is not the important one. If you are deciding where the money goes, Proseal at ₱4,600 protects the stone, while this bottle at ₱1,700 makes it shine. Both are Cebu branch prices.

Check the seal with the water test rather than by eye. Leave a few drops of water on an inconspicuous part of the counter for fifteen minutes, and if the stone has darkened underneath it wants sealing, however good the polish looks.

Not every stone needs a sealer in the first place. Absolute Black, Black Galaxy, Tan Brown and Marigold are dense enough to go without, and color is no guide to which stones those are.

Can You Use It on Engineered Quartz?

No. There is a reason the brand bottles a separate product.

No. This is built for a porous mineral surface. Quartz resists staining and is bound with polymer resin, so a stone polish leaves residue sitting on top instead of doing anything useful.

Where a Cebu kitchen holds both materials, common enough when the island is quartz and the perimeter granite, buy both. It is simpler than keeping track of which surface wants which bottle.

Expect Two Passes on a Neglected Counter

Months of build-up will not lift in a single wipe. Clear the film, polish afterwards, and judge the result once you have done the second pass, not the first.

Stop If Nothing Improves

Where two thorough passes change nothing, the dullness is wear or etching rather than residue, and no quantity of polish will correct it. Ask the Cebu branch before you buy more product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why has my granite counter gone dull?

Almost always soap film from washing-up liquid, mineral deposits around the sink, or grease carried through the air from cooking. The stone underneath is nearly always untouched, and lifting the build-up restores the shine.

What is the difference between this and Weiman?

Both clean natural stone. This bottle, at ₱1,700, is aimed at reviving a polished surface that has gone flat. Weiman, at ₱1,500, adds disinfectant to the cleaning, which fits a counter used for raw food.

Does polishing seal the stone?

No. Polish is surface work; sealing happens down inside the pores. An immaculate-looking counter can still take up oil, so check the seal with the water test instead of trusting your eyes.

Can I use it on engineered quartz?

No. Being resin-bound and stain-resistant, quartz simply holds the polish on its surface as residue. There is a Quartz Clean & Shine from the same brand, at the same price, for exactly that material.

Can I use it on marble and travertine?

Yes. Being pH-neutral is exactly what those stones ask for. Steer anything acidic away from marble, travertine and onyx, because acid etches calcium carbonate no matter how good the seal is.

Will it remove an etch mark?

No. Etching is physical: acid has eaten into the polish rather than settled on top of it. A light etch on marble can be buffed out with polishing powder, a different product doing a different job.

Will it remove a stain?

No. The mark has soaked into the stone, so drawing it back out with a poultice is the job, not wiping the surface. Ask the Cebu branch which poultice fits the stain and the material.
