Frequently Asked Questions
Is Black Forest granite or marble?
Granite. Those broad pale sweeps make people guess marble, but this is an igneous rock, and it carries granite’s hardness and heat tolerance. The practical consequence is that lemon juice or vinegar will not etch it, which is not something marble can claim.
How much does Black Forest granite cost in Cebu?
Slab material runs ₱3,600 per square meter through Stone Depot Cebu, with fabrication and installation at ₱500 per linear meter apiece and a set of cut-outs at ₱500. Every branch charges those same service rates. What shifts from one to the next is the slab figure and the delivery run, and both of those are particular to Cebu.
Does Black Forest granite stain?
Yes, if it is left unsealed. Oil soaks into the pale bands, and a greasy mark on light veining shows. Keep it sealed and mop up spills quickly and the stone resists staining well. As for the ground, it is dense enough that it seldom takes up anything at all.
Can you put a hot pan on Black Forest granite?
Yes. Heat and pressure are what made this rock to begin with, so a pan lifted straight off the burner will neither scorch nor discolor it. A trivet is still worth using, because any stone can crack if the temperature change is sudden and extreme, and that matters most around an edge or a cut-out, where a weak point already exists.
Do the slabs match each other?
No, and that is worth planning around. Blocks differ, so slabs cut from different ones carry different veining, and a kitchen that takes more than one should have them selected at the same time. Before committing, ask to look at the real material in the Cebu yard instead of judging from a sample tile.
How does Black Forest compare to Black Galaxy?
Pattern against flecks, and sealing against none. At ₱3,500 per sqm, Black Galaxy is an even black dusted with bronze and asks for no sealer. Black Forest, at ₱3,600, brings broad veining and does want sealing. Go with Galaxy for a consistent surface and lighter upkeep, Forest for pattern and movement.
Can Black Forest granite be used outdoors?
Yes. Because granite is UV-stable, sunlight will not fade or yellow it, which makes it a sound choice for Cebu lanai counters, outdoor kitchens and pool-side surfaces. Budget for slightly more frequent resealing outside, where sun and rain give the surface a harder time than any indoor kitchen does.
Where can you buy Black Forest granite in Cebu?
Stone Depot carries Black Forest granite at the Cebu branch. Inventory is held branch by branch, so whatever is standing on the floor here belongs to Cebu alone.
Come and see a veined slab at full size in the Cebu yard, because three meters of veining is not something a sample tile can communicate. We open Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and a visit or a call to the Cebu branch is welcome. Work over in Bohol is supplied out of this yard as well.
